What is e-Gold?
e-gold is an electronic currency, issued by e-gold Ltd., a Nevis corporation, 100% backed at all times by gold bullion in allocated storage.
Other e-metals are also issued: e-silver is 100% backed by silver, e-platinum is 100% backed by platinum, and e-palladium is 100% backed by palladium. However, the most popular e-metal (by an overwhelming margin) is e-gold.
e-gold is integrated into an account based payment system that empowers people to use gold as money. Specifically, the e-gold payment system enables people to Spend specified weights of gold to other e-gold accounts. Only the ownership changes - the gold in the treasury grade vault stays put.
The concept of e-Gold is very similar to internet banking but the money is backed by real gold bullion.
"e-Gold is to money what e-mail is to letters" JP May.
What is 1MDC?
What is a 1mdcGram? A 1mdcGram is just an e-gold gram, stored for you, in 1mdc¬Ãs e-gold account.
Very simply, instead of leaving your e-gold in your own e-gold account, you move it to 1mdc¬Ãs "mass" e-gold accounts where all 1mdc users hold their e-gold grams, collectively.
There are NO storage fees at 1mdc, and for now (2005) there are NO spend fees! 1mdc is happy to cover that cost to build the business.
That¬Ãs right...you can keep your e-gold without the annoying storage fee eating away at your gold.
1mdc is a no-nonsense ultra-streamlined system you will enjoy using. 1MDC is EGS¬Ãs preferred payment system for security and privacy reasons.
It is also worth noting that you can send your gold to and from 1MDC as often as you like. So you can deposit e-Gold into 1MDC and use it, and then if you need it back in e-Gold for what ever reason you just follow the simple "unbail" process in your 1MDC account.
What is Gold Money?
GoldMoney is gold that can be transferred online instantly. It is a simple and convenient way to buy and sell gold.
GoldMoney is like online banking, but your account is denominated in goldgrams and mils, not dollars and cents. Plus you can use GoldMoney as currency easily and inexpensively by 'clicking' goldgrams from your account to someone else. Or just as easily, you can convert those goldgrams at the prevailing spot price into US dollars, Canadian dollars, euros or British pounds, which are the four currencies we presently accept.
Each GoldMoney goldgram is held for you in allocated storage in an insured vault in London, England. When you buy goldgrams, you own pure gold in a secure vault.
What is a DGC?
A DGC is a Digital Gold Currency and is the term often used when talking about e-Gold, Gold Money, or 1MDC.
What Exactly does Euro Gold Sales Do?
Quite simply Euro Gold Sales sells DGCs and when you want to exchange your DGCs back to cash we buy them back from you. So EGS is what is known as an Exchange Provider. We sell DGCs to you and then we buy them, back for cash when you no longer want them.
How do I use these things?
The best resource on DGC¬Ãs and how to use them is an e-book written by Michael Moore from Gold Century Press. You can get a copy of it for free by clicking on this link.
http://www.goldcenturypress.com/goldbooklet.zip
Where can I get more detailed information?
There is information all over the internet about DGC¬Ãs, how they work and what they can be used for. Each of the different DGC¬Ãs has their own web site with information. One of the best resources on the internet would have to be Gold Pages. They have thousands of links to related web sites and lots of information about the industry. You can visit them at http://www.gold-pages.net
Also Michael Moore from Gold Century Press has written an e-Book which is free for anyone to download. It has lots of valuable information. You can get your copy by visiting http://www.goldcenturypress.com/goldbooklet.zip
Account Opening
How do I open an e-Gold account?
Opening an e-Gold account is simple. All you need to do is click on this link https://www.e-gold.com/newacct/ agree to the terms and conditions and then fill out the form. Once you have filled out the form an submitted it, the e-Gold system will allocate an account number and send it to you via e-mail.
Make sure when you enter your personal details you enter accurate information, in particular the e-mail address and phone number. If you ever have a problem with the account like a mistaken password, e-Gold will call the number on your account. If the details are wrong and they canâït contact you, you could lose all the money in your account. Further to that, if you have e-Golds security system active to prevent hackers accessing your account, they will send a pin number to your e-mail address which you will need to access your account every time you change IP address or browser.
How do I open a 1MDC account?
Simply visit https://www.1mdc.com/create.html and fill in the form. Once you have filled in the form and submitted it your account is created. It doesn¬Ãt get much simpler than that.
How do I open a Gold Money account?
Opening a Gold Money account is very similar to opening a 1MDC account. Just go to https://secure.goldmoney.com/user/opnhld.php and fill in the form. Gold Money will e-mail you a confirmation e-mail which will have a link that you will need to click on to confirm your e-mail address is active.
Do I need a Euro Gold Sales account?
Euro Gold Sales do not have an account system. We think it¬Ãs too much hassle for you to remember user names and passwords, and then have to log in every time you want to use our service. We much prefer to keep things simple. EGS is more like a shop. You just walk on in, choose what you want to buy and then pay for it and leave.
Once you have used our service for the first time we remember your details so that next time you visit us you simply press a button and we remember your details from the last order. For some added security we leave the account number blank in case you over look it and you actually wanted the new order to go to a different account.

- Buy and Sell fees based on receiving and sending European IBAN Transfers
- Sell fees based on transfers in EUR currency
- Sell fees based on transfers less than ¬Ã50,000. If the amount is more contact us first or make more than 1 sell order keeping each under ¬Ã50,000
- Transfers in currencies other than EUR are charged at ¬Ã30 or the local currency equivalent on the day
- These fees are charged by the bank
Minimum Fees Charged Outside Europe
| DGC | Minimum fee for you to Buy Gold | Minimum fees for you to Sell Gold |

| ¬Ã5, $8, or £4 | ¬Ã30 or the local currency equivalent on the day |
- Buy fees based on receiving SWIFT Transfers with no errors
- Sell fees based on SWIFT transfers Under ¬Ã50,000 or the local currency equivalent. Contact us if it is more than that amount or make more than 1 sell order keeping each under ¬Ã50,000
- Cheques issues to countries outside Portugal are charged at ¬Ã25 or the local currency equivalent on the day
- Sell fees are assuming you can supply your banks SWIFT code
- Sell orders with no SWIFT code are charged a ¬Ã20 manual processing fee
- These fees are all charged by the bank
- You should ask your bank what all of the details required for an international transfer are because every bank is different and we can only use the information you give us
USA Customers
USA banks do not use SWIFT codes very often however most US banks do have one. Before pacing a sell order try and find out what your banks SWIFT code is to save on fees. EGS do not make money on sell orders and we would much rather you keep your money than give it to our bank
How much does it cost to buy gold?
The fee to buy gold ranges from 4% to 2.25% dpending on how much you buy. !!!!
There is a minimum fee of ¬Ã5, $8, or £4 depending on what currency you send and if the transfer does not have all the information such as the account number, the IBAN number or the account name then the bank charges an extra fee. They also charge that fee if the sender does not select "Shared Fees" where applicable. Shared fees just means that payer pays the fees issued by their bank and EGS pays the fees issued by our own bank
The extra fee is up to ¬Ã18 or the USD, or GBP equivalent.
So basically so long as all the correct information is used for the transfer there are no extra fees at all by EGS or our Bank.
Depending on what country you are in, if you send funds via a SWIFT transfer there may also be fees that an intermediary bank charges. It all depends on what bank you use. This is rare but it does happen someties and is not charged by EGS or our bank but rather a financial institution that your bank uses to send the funds to us. You may want to look into it first if you don't already know.
You can always get the latest information on fees by clicking on our rates page which is HERE
Note: Customers from the USA and Asia
We are finding that many banks in America and Asia have our banks "old" SWIFT code on file and they tend to use the code they have on file instead of the SWIFT code we supply. Please make a point of checking that they use the right one so that you are not cahrged extra fees for having incorrect information on the transfer form. The fee charged is because the order has to be processed manually and is about $21 USD
How much does it cost to Sell gold?
EGS only charges 1.9% when you sell gold. (at the time of writing this - June 2006)
You can always get the latest information on fees by clicking on our rates page which is HERE
As well as our fee there are fees charged by the bank to send the money to you. If the money is sent in EUR and is sent within Europe the fees are quite small in comparison to the majority of banks.
The actual bank fee is ¬Ã5 however there are some conditions imposed by the EU, and others imposed by our bank that have to be met otherwise higher or extra fees are charged.
The EU conditions for these cheap rates are
- The amount to be sent must be less than ¬Ã50,000
- The sender must include all information such as the account number, the IBAN number or account the name. The only time this would not happen is if EGS were given the wrong information on the sell order.
Our banks conditions for these cheap rates are
- The money must be sent in EUR
- The money must be sent within Europe
- We must have the SWIFT code or BIC which is usually the same code
If the conditions are not met then the fees charged are as follows
If the money is being sent outside Europe - ¬Ã30 is charged by the bank. This is for amounts up to ¬Ã50,000 or the local currency equivalent. If you want to sell more than that the best thing for you to do is make multiple orders keeping them under ¬Ã50,000 or the local currency equivalent. To send more there are fees which the bank charges. If sending this amount and paying the fee it still works out cheaper than using most other Exchange Providers. Contact us to find out how much it will be
If the order has to be processed manually - The bank charges a further ¬Ã20. Orders usually have to be processed manually when there is either no SWIFT code supplied or the SWIFT code is wrong
USA Customers
USA banks do not use SWIFT codes very often however most US banks do have one. Before placing a sell order try and find out what your banks SWIFT code is to save on fees. EGS do not like you getting bank fees and we would much rather you keep your money than give it to our bank
How much does it cost to cancel my order?
If we have not received your money then there is no fee at all. If we have received your monet then there will be a 1% fee to cancel your order plus any costs associated with the bank transfer
Placing An Order
How do I buy gold?
Buying gold with EGS is simple. There are 4 steps to the whole process.
- You place an order with us.
- You send us your money in exchange for gold.
- We verify that the details you gave us are correct.
- When your money arrives we fund your account.
To make all of this happen all you need o do is visit http://www.eurogoldsales.com/buy and fill in the form to buy gold. Alternatively you can just click on the button at the top of the page on the EGS home page. Once you have filled it in, press the submit button and follow the prompts. Ensure you enter the correct account details so that the gold gets to the correct account. We would hate to send the gold you payed for to the wrong person since it is an irreversible transaction. Once the gold is spent, that¬Ãs it.
When you confirm your details you will be given payment instructions on how to send money to EGS. We suggest you print them off so that you have the correct details. If you write them down you may miss a digit. If you are making a payment over the Internet and you are copying and pasting the details PLEASE make sure you copy the whole line and don't miss any numbers. This is a common mistake.
Once you have sent your payment we will continue to check our account daily to see if your funds have arrived. As soon as they do we will verify the order and once it is verified we will get your order processed within minutes.
How do I sell gold?
To sell your gold there are 3 Steps
- You place an order at our web site.
- You send your gold to us using the automatic interface, which is built into the ordering process.
- We send you your money the same afternoon or following morning.
To make this happen all you need to do is visit http://www.eurogoldsales.com/sell or click on the "Sell your e-Gold here" button at the top of the home page and then fill out the form.
Be sure to enter the correct details especially with the payment details. If you enter the wrong details we will send the money to the wrong bank account.
After you have filled in all the details on the form you will automatically be redirected to the secure shopping cart so you can make your payment to EGS. After you have made your payment at the shopping cart you will be brought back to the EGS web site.
Once we receive the order we will add it to the list of orders to be paid and it will be paid that afternoon or the next morning. Most banks will officially say that it takes from 1 to 5 days for the money to get to your bank but it usually arrives in 2 or 3 days.
When you give us the information of where to send your money, please be sure to include the Banks name, address, and SWIFT code, as well as your name, address, and IBAN or account number.
What is an IBAN transfer?
IBAN stands for International Bank Account Number and is a cross border payment system used within Europe. All European countries are required to supply access to the IBAN system so if your bank account is in the EU and you are not sure what your IBAN is, just ask your bank. They have to give it to you.
It is now the most common, and also usually the cheapest method to send funds around Europe.
This is an example of an IBAN

If you are from OUTSIDE of the European Union, such as our very many USA customers, simply ignore IBANs. IBANs only relate to banking INSIDE the European Union! If you are from the USA or elsewhere, read on to "SWIFT" wire transfers!...
What is a SWIFT transfer?
Well the SWIFT web site says....
SWIFT is the financial industry-owned co-operative supplying secure, standardised messaging services and interface software to 7,800 financial institutions in more than 200 countries.

Each bank has its own code and quite often will have different codes for different sections or branches.
Your bank will be able to tell you what your SWIFT code is. When sending your details to EGS for a SWIFT transfer, be sure to enter all the details correctly. Most SWIFT transfers require

Unfortunately no orders can be processed without some kind of phone number. Even sending cash through the post will require a phone number of some sort.
I got an error message when I tried to submit my order. What does it mean?

Please use the pop-up menu to choose the currency type! |

Please click back and look at item 4. Please select one of the items from the pop-up menu! |

How Long Does It Take?
How long will it take for my order to be filled?
At EGS we fill your order once we have received cleared funds and verified the order to make sure it is not fraudulent. This all happens the same day we receive cleared funds unless we have trouble contacting you. The time it takes for your money to reach our bank account varies depending on what bank you are with and what country you sent the money from.
The banks say that it takes from 3 to 5 days to cover themselves but from our experience it generally takes 2-4 days and some transfers only 1 day.
Read below for more details on the time it takes for your funds to arrive
At EGS we Guarantee that once we have cleared funds, and the transaction has been fully verified we will have your account funded within 24 hours. The only exception to this is on one of the very rare occasions when demand outweighs supply and it becomes quite hard to get gold. This may delay your order by a day or so and it only happens a couple of times a year. So long as the industry is not experiencing a situation like this your account will usually be funded in a matter of minutes
How long will it take for my money to arrive at EGS?
The banks say that it takes from 3 to 5 days to cover themselves but from our experience it generally takes 2-4 days and some transfers only 1 day.
Most banks in Europe process their payments after 12pm each day. So if you can make a transfer before 12pm your bank will usually process it that day and it will arrive 2 days later.
Those that are transferred after 12pm do not start getting processed until the next day so take an extra day to arrive. This is only a general rule of thumb so to be absolutely certain you should contact your bank.
Some SWIFT transfers have arrived the next day when coming from countries such as the USA but still take 24 hours to clear.
How long does it take for the e-Gold to get to my account?
Once your funds arrive we verify the transaction and process your order. The actual processing is automated and very fast. It is just a matter of seconds for the e-Gold to go from our account to your account once we click the process button.

Should You Trust Euro Gold Sales?
How do I know EGS will fill my order and not just keep my money?
EGS has proven itself to be an honest reliable exchange provider many times over. We regularly have orders for over ¬Ã100,000 and have never had a serious complaint from any customer.
Also some of the biggest names in the industry recommend us including merchants like The Gold Casino http://www.thegoldcasino.com, Gold-Pages http://www.gold-pages.net, and Gold Cards http://www.au-cards.net as well as e-Gold and 1MDC.
To get listed at e-Gold exchangers must go through a rigorous Due Diligence process to ensure that the companies incorporation, and the identity of the people behind the web site are all legitimate. You can rest assured that anyone listed as an exchange provider on the e-Gold web site is a legitimate operation.
EGS is also a member of the GDCA, which monitors complaints against businesses in the DGC community. The GDCA have a rating system that can be used to see if there have been any complaints against an exchanger and to date EGS have had none.
We suggest that if anyone is unsure as to weather or not EGS is trustworthy they should try our service with small amounts of money, and increase your order as you get more confident. You might want to start with say ¬Ã50 and work your way up from there. We would rather take our time to build a relatiopnship with you so that you trust us, than have you send us a large sum of money and then be worried about who has it.
Are you a member of the GDCA?
Yes we are an accredited member of the GDCA. You can visit the GDCA wb site to find out more about us by clicking the link http://www.gdcaonline.org/members
Euro Gold Sales Privacy Policy
Does EGS give out my details?
Our privacy policy is simple. If approached for information, we never ever ever ever give out your details to anyone, weather they be an individual or a government body unless they provide our lawyers in Gibraltar with a court order to do so, and the lawyers tell us that the court order is valid and we actually do have to provide the information. It is worth noting that this has never happened.
There are now 3 exceptions to this rule.
- Identity thieves
- People who try and steal from us - fraudsters and scammers
- Those who decide to be involved in child pornography
These 3 groups of people will have every piece of information we have recorded given to the relevant authorities and we will help the authorities 100% of the way to try and track them down to have them arrested and convicted.
We have a 100% zero tolerance for this kind of behaviour.
